Embedded AI becomes an engineering discipline

06.07.2026

Save the date:
June 15 – 17, 2027.

The FPGA Conference 2026 was once again the meeting place for developers, engineers and decision-makers in the field of programmable logic devices. In a joint organization, PLC2 and ELEKTRONIKPRAXIS welcomed FPGA experts from all over Europe to a three-day event.

With the introduction of the Embedded AI Masterclasses, the conference expanded beyond traditional FPGA development for the first time. The additional conference track demonstrated that Embedded AI has evolved from an emerging topic into a practical engineering discipline, requiring dedicated methodologies, tools and design expertise. Instead of presenting AI as an isolated software topic, the Embedded AI Masterclasses focused on the complete engineering workflow.

This also reflects a broader shift across the FPGA industry. Modern FPGA development is no longer limited to programmable logic. It increasingly combines adaptive computing, embedded software, machine learning and AI-assisted engineering workflows into a unified development process.

As co-organizer of the FPGA Conference Europe, PLC2 sees this evolution not as a temporary trend, but as the next stage of FPGA and embedded system development.
